Naomi Goodheart (she/they) is a New York-based writer, editor, and soup enthusiast. She likes writing and reading about sisters, grief, and bugs. She is a New Georges affiliated artist and an assistant editor at Random House.
Their work has been developed with the National Women’s Theatre Festival, Yale Playwrights Festival, and the Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford.
Their plays include THIS HOT TUB FITS TWO PEOPLE, morebetter, an adaptation of The Seagull, and a drama based on Nellie Bly’s Ten Days in a Mad-House titled while i live, i hope (winner of the Shana Alexander Research Fellowship in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies). Their play In Absentia made its New York premiere at St. Lydia’s in 2025. They’re currently working on We Just Need to Verify That You’re Alive, a new play about CAPTCHAs, online sports betting, and overwatering plants in the workplace
Naomi is the winner of the John Hubbard Curtis Prize for excellence in a longer work of nonfiction, as well as the Henry P. Wright Prize and the William Zinsser Prize. She received a BA in Humanities and Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies from Yale University.
